On a February day in 1846 a violent northeast storm accompanied by snow and freezing weather hit the coast. Nine ships were wrecked on New Jersey beaches. Despite 18 hours of rescue efforts and several successful rescues, over 30 lives were lost, including those of the captain, his wife and their two children.

The history of the Shore House was solidified on that day. The building, a hotel at the time, was used as a temporary hospital and morgue and a place to shelter the survivors. Over a century later, we’re here to tell the tale - on the 175th anniversary of the shipwreck of 1846, we are launching our very own SHIPWRECK SERIES of specialty cuisine and cocktails that are definitely bound to float your boat
